Sometimes we burn in shading to bring depth. Sometimes we add color. 😁 Coloring pieces that will be used in actual food preparation can be challenging. We don’t want to add anything that could be toxic! I use food coloring, mixed and/or diluted to achieve the colors I’m after and applied as more of a stain, so the wood grain still shows through. To help preserve the color during use, I apply my own wood conditioner - a blend of organic coconut oil and filtered beeswax. .
