I've said it before, I'll continue to say it. You are not unworthy of love because of your mental illness. I've struggled, and continue to struggle with mental illness (clinically diagnosed). I work hard to keep my mood stable but sometimes it gets the better of me. It's time people stopped judging others and start helping those of us who are not in a great way. Recovery is possible. It is said it takes a village to raise a child, I believe it takes a village to help someone recover. Believe in yourself! (Sounds so cliche I know!) but hear me out for a minute.

That little (but loud) voice in your head AKA Anxiety has a bad habit of reminding you alllll day long about what you can’t do, what you might fail at and how someone else could probably just do whatever it is better than you could anyway.. so what’s the point? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The thing is you don’t ever doubt that what the voice is telling you could be false, untrue or A LIE! Today I would like you to practice silencing that voice.. (not by pushing it away) but by being more aware of it, by telling it your not interested in what it has to say, that you are more than capable of all those things, that you are worthy of this and more! Anxiety even has the tendency to make you doubt the things that you KNOW that you can do!! Like what thaaaa??!

I honestly believe that we humans have a biological connection with water but somehow we've lost it.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Remember that for 9 months before we were all born, we were surrounded with water in our mother's womb. Our bodies are made up of 70% H2O. So clearly, water is essential for our well-being.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
When we speak of water training, a lot of people only understand the physical benefits that it provides. But based from experience, I can say that the water has been a HUGE part in healing my mind and soul.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The water is such a great teacher. Since I am more exposed to the wildness and aggression of a gym, i've never really fully appreciated the beauty of water and getting soaked under the sun until I made a conscious effort to be present in my practice.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Author Wallace Nichols once said that just by hearing and seeing a body of water releases a bunch of neurochemicals in your brain that promote wellness and there's an immediate increase in blood flow to both our heart and brain that gives a sense of relaxation.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
I treat my water training not as part of my intense workouts but more as a recovery for the mind.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The water is the master of the art of being slow. It teaches us to mellow down and that's a big reason why it's very therapeutic for life. Sometimes being slow allows us to put things into perspective and become more efficient in the way we do things.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
The water has this power to create mental tranquility and clarity from distractions and chaos of the modern world. The sensation of being underwater is one of the best experiences I wish everybody can fully embrace. Noise is muffled and hearing the beat of your pulse in your ear drums.⁣⁣⁣

It just gives us a break from overstimulation and gives us the opportunity to get inspiration and be creative.

@jamessmithpt had a great post today highlighting the importance of reaching out for help.

Having a support network around you when you are dealing with mental illness is beyond important. The more I manage my mental health conditions the more fortunate I am to have people step up in my life that want to help me out. -
I also wanted to give a few other options for those independent types (also me) who sometimes just like to deal with shit themselves:
1) Sleep. Do not undervalue this! Sleep can have a great effect on your outlook on life, your ability to exercise and think clearly. 
2) Eat well. Eating a balanced diet (yes including treats) can help you feel like you’re running on all cylinders and provide you with the nutrients your body needs.
3) Exercise. Can anyone say endorphins?! I personally like going on a long 10 km walk to clear my head and get amongst nature. 
4) Psychologist / Psychiatrist appts. Beyond important! Talking things out and getting out of your head can help so much and really give you some perspective. 
5) Medication. If you need it, you need it. Just like some people need thyroid medication or blood pressure pills... some people need medication. 
6) Practice being present.. noticing the weather, the noises, smells and people around you... it helps you feel more grounded. -
FINALLY... love yourself, be kind to yourself and allow yourself the same benefits that you would others. I have lost count of the amount of ridiculously high expectations I had for myself that always left me feeling like crap. There can always be more kindness in the world so start with yourself ❤️ #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #anxiety #depression

Haven't posted anything in a long time. I've been struggling with a lot of anxiety and depression lately. Have you been crushed by anything or anyone so bad that no person, thing or feeling could mend its void? It sucks to be awake until dawn and you don't know where you have landed with your thoughts? Your head races through so many things that you forget what is important? Anxiety is a thing that becomes a 24x7 companion for you at all times be it bad or good. Its like a host and a parasite relationship that you share. And it gets suffocating for you to stand anything at one point of time and all seems brimming like water in a glass where there is no space for more water.
This is a time when you should really seek help. Keep your friends closer and don't hesitate to call them when you feel that everything is out of control. Try talking to your parents. Seek help from a professional.

Breathing..
It’s the thing we do automatically as a living being. And most likely we take it for granted.
The truth is we can learn to breathe mindfully, and for sure we will get a lot benefit. One of them is to help us reduce our anxiety.

Breathing deeply will help you to relax well. When you breathe, you will notice that fresh oxygen will pour into your body cell. This will enhance the functionality of your system, physical stamina, and mental concentration.
.
Take sometimes to pause for 5 minutes from your busyness. And take a deep breath from your nostril and hold them for a while before releasing them through your mouth slowly. Repeat this a few time for 5 minutes, noticing how the air goes inside your nose and out from your mouth. Notice how your lung expanding, notice how calmer you become.
.
Make this as a daily habit, repeat a few times a day. And you’ll see how it really help you and change your life.

I still have the occasional cup now but I save it for out and about productivity.

How lovely to get a card in the post from a client who had been suffering from chronic pain in her neck and shoulders and hospitalised three times in the previous month. She was also suffering from anxiety and insomnia.In the conversation I learned her husband had died suddenly 4 years previously. Identifying the root cause of manifestation we used the essential oil of Melissa officinalis. There is nothing wrong with achieving. Achievement is a good thing that lies at the heart of our basic needs to feel fulfilled in life. The problem lies when we place pressure on our bodies and minds in order to achieve so much in such a short space of time. This is also known as ‘biting off more than we can chew’ and many of us seldom realise how much we are doing this🤭

The word ‘mindfulness’ has become a buzz word in recent years. In its essence, to be mindful is to simply become conscious. That is, being aware of our actions, thoughts and behaviours as much as possible🙏🏻🙂

Being mindful is bringing yourself back into the now, the present moment and re-tuning your focus to what’s important, without judgment. For example, if you are pushing through your working week with an energy of urgency, frenzy and flurry 🧠, you are putting your nervous system into a state of chronic stress 😤. This is known as the “fight or flight” reaction, also known as a sympathetic nervous system response, which can be problematic when long-term. Problems of chronic stress can include digestive problems😦, impaired immune system functioning and also poor mood and concentration😓🤯.

This is why it is so important that we take time out to re-align our bodies and minds and calm down our nervous system. So how do we do this? By becoming more mindful, of course!🧘🏼‍♀️🧘🏻‍♀️

I’ve walked a path of depression, anxiety, low self esteem to name a few. There have been times when I have been mentally abused and felt like there was no way out and wanted to give up. It was my sister’s birthday a few days ago so I thought I’d do a little appreciation post for her. 
My dearest little Nat. I’m sorry. I’m sorry for taking the attention away from you when you’ve needed it, I’m sorry you’ve had to see the things you’ve had to, I’m sorry for the early morning and late night hospital trips, I’m sorry you’ve had to watch me fade away. I’m really just sorry. I’ve always tried my best to protect you from everything but I’ve neglected myself and that has impacted you. You keep a lot inside, i know sometimes you’re angry at me and that’s ok I forgive you. Just know that I’m trying and that I will never ever give up. You are and always will be my number 1 motivation to get better.i love you with all my heart.

Like I’ve mentioned previously, mental illness doesn’t just affect one person. My sister Nat is the most gorgeous thing on the planet in my eyes and she’s had to put up with so much because of my mental illness. She’s had to grow up a lot quicker than most people her age and it makes me sad. Sometimes her going to school or out with friends is better than being at home with me when I’m really unstable. She’s lost a lot of time and attention from my parents because they’ve had to look after me, I don’t know how I will ever make up all the hours she’s lost. I get very frustrated with mental health professionals because they always exclude Nat from the issues, no one ever asks if she’s ok. She is much stronger than me and I admire her for her resilience. She is caring, she is protective and she is strong. If you have my sister in your life you probably already know this and believe me you are very lucky to have her in your life.💫✨

But it’s not always as simple as arranging to meet a friend for coffee. Pathetic as it sounds, reaching out to others when you feel like this can seem like too tall an order. *

I love Mind’s explanation of this: loneliness is a little like hunger - it’s your body’s way of telling you that you need more social contact. I try to remember that feeling alone just means I’m socially hungry: not worthless, alone or unloved as our heads would sometimes would have us believe. *

You can be surrounded by the best friends and most supportive family imaginable and still feel plagued by the feeling that you’re alone. Social media, we know, only amplifies that sense of isolation. Don’t let it. It’s here to connect us, if we use it well. *

You’re not alone. And you’re not silly or self absorbed for sometimes feeling lonely. But if it feels like you are, know that I am just a ‘let’s have coffee’ message away. Always. No explanation needed. And if coffee in person is out of reach, well that’s what DMs are for. The virtual kettle is always on. *

Tell someone how you feel. Do the social equivalent of making yourself a sandwich when you’re hungry. You don’t beat yourself up (I hope) for feeling hungry, so don’t do it when your mind tries to let you know that you need a little more human connection. *

You’re not alone. You’re only hungry.
