TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY! Do you guys remember the "hospice" dog we saved that we posted back in August, Sally? Well her foster (now forever) mom was a bit nutty about her and decided she didn't want to "hospice" she said "WE FIGHT!" and that is exactly what they did!
Sally immediately began eating good, healthy food and getting medicated baths every three days for her skin. Soon, when she gained enough weight for surgery, the amazing vet team at Fayetteville Animal Hospital removed her cancerous mammary tumors and spayed her to hopefully prevent further issues. We checked her out with an opthamologist and unfortunately she was not a candidate for cataracts removal 😭 but she and her mom didn't care, they got some drops to slow the progression and moved on to the biggest issue - the dreadful HEARTWORMS. Sally was an outside dog for the first 10 years of her life. No protection from the weather, the sun (which contributed to her severe cataracts - she is 100% blind they say but her mom disagrees), the cold, or the mosquitos 💔
Her foster mom didn't want to put her weak body through the rigorous heartworm treatment and REALLY didn't want to sit back and let the heartworms take her life either. Hearing the typical "slow kill" method is less than effective, they tried a new method of "slow kill" that is technically still in the "we don't know a lot about it" stages, but her mom said - let's do it, and if it doesn't work, we can bring out the big guns then.
Well guess what friends?!?!?! We just did a heart worm test on Sally just 5 months after her slow kill treatment started and she is HEARTWORM NEGATIVE!!!!! So, the once hospice dog that was told she had about 30 days left to live is kicking butt!!! She is STRONG, LOVES walks, eats like a champ, has hair thicker than most humans, is cancer and heart worm free and has NO reason not to live a long, happy, healthy life now!! Releash Atlanta says #wefight for our dogs and we ALWAYS, ALWAYS will!
Sally has her own instagram (we told you her mom is nutty about her 😂) @lockstockandsally if you want to follow the adventures and life of a super sweet little senior shelter dog ❤️
