GROUNDING! 🌿 Are you full of hot air (like this bubble)? How much do you talk and not apply? How many times have you said to yourself, I’ll start Monday?!
I’ve been there, I’ve made promises to myself that I haven’t been able to fulfil, I’ve lost track, lost focus, lost my grounding and wound up right back at square one!
In this fast paced world it’s easy to forget why you started or lose your grounding, and get sucked into the busyness and stress!
Grounding is so important as it keeps you centred and focused on the right direction, it keeps you calmed and balanced. It is the thing that can be swayed by outside influences, so it is easy to lose. It is up to you to stay true to yourself when your emotions are high and low, to control your stress and whether or not you give into temptations.
Losing my grounding is something I still struggle with, but here are a few key things that always help me reset that mental switch!
🌿 Have a person you share your goals with; tell them so that you have someone who not only can encourage and support you, but keep you accountable when you are straying off your path and focus.
🌿 Diaphragmatically breathing; when things get too much, you are losing your cool, or getting overwhelmed or flustered, take 10 deep, slow breaths all the way into your diaphragm. It will change your nervous system and in turn recenter you, giving you more clarity and grounding.
🌿 Meditation; a time away from all devices, to do lists, craziness of work and family and social commitments, and just clear your mind so you can remember your why.
🌿 Connecting to nature; just like this experience in the bubble hotel, the feeling of being surrounded by greenery, being barefoot🦶🏽 on the earth, smelling the fresh air, listen to birds and insects and being relaxed just simply being.
Often I find even going for a walk outside can do the trick, breathing doesn’t get too shallow, I’m surrounded by nature, listening to calming music or a meditation or podcast or with a close friend talking about our hopes and dreams for the future. So find something that works for you, in the moment and over time to stay grounded.
