#Day41: Building habit
Easy to say isn’t it? Whatever it is, unless “it” becomes part of our life, we will always tend to fall off the wagon. How hard is to build a habit? IMO, easy when we are diligent, challenging when we are not. Simple as it sounds. *
A habit - could be anything, takes time and varies from person to person. It is a sign of progression in life, be it physical fitness, mindful eating, gratitude, etc. So how do I try to build a habit? ✓Identify one particular habit and focus: e.g. What are the benefits I will get from it? Will it fit into my daily routines? etc. ✓Make it small: I wanted to make a habit of working out without fail for 5-6 days/ week. Back when I started ~2 years, I could barely workout for 3 days/week. Today, working out 5-6 days/week has become a habit. It did not happen overnight, took me more than a 1 year to get into the groove. ✓Be prepared: Our lives are hectic. We spend most of the time on the move. And if there isn't any support back home, it becomes even more of a task. Being prepared for any challenges beforehand helps. Planning the day (weekdays if not weekends) ensures the designated time for the New Habit isn't missed. ✓Commitment: How bad we want it? Really, ask the question and no, don't compare with the world out there. It's about you, it's for you. Social media can make us all fall in the “comparison” trap. I have fallen into it many times, IT DOESN'T HELP!! If you are committed you will find time no matter what. ✓Bounce back: You will fail, not once, not twice, maybe even the 10th time. Don't lose 💓, don't give up. Don't care what others are thinking, they have no clue what you are doing to get this one. Keep trying, YOU WILL SUCCEED. ✓Finally love ourselves: We're best, beautiful, strong, sexy, smart, healthy. 🥰
After successfully building the habit to workout, now my focus is to build the habit of “mindful eating”. I keep falling off, but I will not give up.
