//God Is Faithful To His Promises// “And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8.38)
Donny: About how 6 weeks ago I had a Transient Ischemic Attack. When it happened, the paramedics arrived, evaluated me and put me on “stroke protocol” which means that certain things have to happen on a very tight timeline to minimize the risk of injury or death.
At that point, I didn’t know what was happening or what would happen, what the result of this would be...the only real thought I had was “Am I having a stroke?” and the potential implications of that. Thinking about my 1-year-old son and my 4-year-old daughter and my wife and if I would see them again, would I be able to provide for them in the future, all these questions flooded my heart and mind.
All these questions...but the promise that began to come forward in my mind through all those things was from Roman’s 8:28 where it says “And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
So I grabbed onto that promise in my heart and I didn’t let go....and I took it for what it said...you know, not “and we know that for those who love God, God will always do exactly what you want him too.” I took it to mean what it says that “God, whatever you bring from this situation, I trust you that it will be good, even if it means I go to be with you and am not there for my family.”
It was an anchor for me in that moment, it was a lifeline of hope and security. I know his character...I know he is good, I know God is and has been Faithful to all His Promises...therefore I can trust that he will work all things together for good.
