In case you haven’t seen my top 10 tips for the NREMT test on YouTube, here are 5 (captions wouldn’t fit)👇🏽 I get so many messages daily about this test so thought I’d share what’s helped me.
(Yes) I did pass both EMT and medic NREMT on my first try but that’s because I knew how to effectively prepare for it & I want to share that with YOU.
🚑 Don’t Wait to Long to Test:
I taught EMT classes at the college and it’s such a significant # of you that wait too long to test after the class. This only puts more time between you and the content. Take time to study DURING your course & a little bit after but I personally wouldn’t give it more than 2 months.
🚑 Weed Out Unnecessary Info: they’ll add so much info to throw you off. Assess the situation, identify the problem, & then treat it. Who cares that they ate 3 hotdogs yesterday?
🚑 ABCs: can’t stress this enough. What’s gonna kill the patient FIRST? Sometimes they’ll throw in some really gruesome injury that sounds & probably looks bad but if your patient isn’t breathing, you’ve chosen the wrong answer.
🚑 Make Flash Cards: cliché but trust me, I had stacks on stacks 💵 I’d take a tiny chunk with me for the day and only study those until I could get through that whole stack without error. I’d bring them to the gym, store, etc.
🚑 There’s always one answer that’s MORE CORRECT: it’s possible to have 2 correct answers & this is one of the biggest complaints with this test 😂 It helps me to imagine myself in the situation & think what I would do first for someone in real life
