RETURN . TO . TENDER
Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds was an inescapable presence in 90's R&B. Besides being the smooth, sensitive, urban crooner who brought us songs like 'How Come, How Long', 'Everytime I Close My Eyes' and 'This Is For The Lover In You' he was was also one of the most important (if not the most important) record producer and songwriter of the era we all love so much. He was ranked number 22 on NME's '50 Of The Greatest Producers Ever' list. Eleven times Grammy Award winner Edmonds wrote and produced more than 26 number one R&B hits throughout his career. With many of the hits from his hand mentioning the artist isn't even necessary. They've become icons by itself, known to everybody. I'm Your Baby Tonight, End Of The Road, Can We Talk, Breath Again, Not Gon' Cry, Sittin' Up In My Room, You're Making Me High, I'll Make Love To You, My My My, Another Sad Love Song, Don't Be Cruel, Every Little Step, Water Runs Dry, Best Thing I Never Had and Song For Mama to name but a few. In an interview with Cryptic Rock Babyface said that being at the side of the stage, watching other acts perform songs he has written for them and seeing people sing along gives him the same great feeling as if he was on stage himself. And we can only thank him for that... | @rnb.memories.
