The poll I put on my story was very telling and I was not the least bit surprised. Most people thought this variation was a lat exercise, but it is actually for upper back. If you are training to look a certain way, I feel like you have to be specific.
▪️
Unfortunately, the fitness industry / instagram is saturated with poor content that may look pretty and look like they know exactly what they are talking about, leading to a lot of popularity, likes and engagement. It’s not anyone’s fault. I have tons to work on myself, and I acknowledge it. For instance, my set up wasn’t perfect and I would probably move the handle in a notch next time. But read on so I can clear this one up.

THIS IS AN UPPER BACK EXERCISE 😁. The elbows are traveling wide, and behind the body. The scapula is retracting. These are all not functions of the lat. HOWEVAAA, this movement will certainly light up your upper back muscles, including the rear delts, teres, rhomboids, and traps.
▪️
One thing I wanted to do was bring in an extra seat to create a better angle to target the upper back. The pulley at this gym is very low, and I was somewhat jammed underneath it and couldn’t achieve the perfect angle I was looking for. Still a good exercise IMO. Even though the gym was packed today, I made the best adjustments I could think of and got some good work in. Win some lose some, that’s life.

After my 15 reps at a lighter weight where I could complete the full range of motion, I actually increased the weight directly after this and went right into a few partial reps to really nail the lengthened (stretched) position of the upper back. My back was on fire after 3 sets of this, give it a try!

PS you should all be following @n . I will be at their 3 day weekend practical in Franklin, PA next month, where I am hoping to learn so much more about all of this. Rant over!

If you’re thinking about investing in any sort of coach/mentor.... 1️⃣ Make sure it’s someone you can trust.

2️⃣ Hire someone who is more concerned with walking the walk than they are with talking the talk.  It’s easy to sound like a good idea.  It’s far more difficult to actually BE a good idea.

3️⃣ Look for someone who over-delivers their product/service more than they over-sell it.

4️⃣ Marketing is fluff.  Let their content draw you in but don’t let it sell you completely.  Form a relationship with a person so you can really see what value they’re bringing to your table first.

5️⃣ You’re probably going to make a bad investment at some point in your life.  But I promise you, it won’t be me.

I pride myself 100% on hard work, integrity and going further than anyone else will go.

Seriously.

I don’t have a ton of money.  Never have.

I care more about what you want/need than I do about how many dollars I can make from you.

Since I’ve been coaching online, I’ve gotten sick more than a few times seeing “business coaches” and “guru’s” create content that is literally a dude on a live video talking about how he just felt like he had someone with a lot of money on the other end of a phone line so he threw out a crazy price for his work and they took it.

What?

Listen.

I have set prices.  You’ll pay me the same price as anyone else would pay me for my services.

I’m practically giving away a 4 week shred program in my FaceBook Group right now.

I LOVE THIS STUFF.

Yes, this is a business and YES I need to make money doing it.

9 months post surgery and 8 weeks out from the third surgery 😅 This time will be for hardwares removal (some of them). One of the lateral plates are really bothering me and it makes me feel I totally carry a wood leg. My biomechanics on the right leg does not feel natural at all, in another words its really hard to have a natural movement. Robot 🤖 leg its how i feel😄, so hopefully after removing those metals I shall feel more human 🙏🏽! I post this video for you who are struggling with any kind of injury and need some motivation to carry on fighting to get better just like me. If you don’t have access to a gym its not a problem, you can find may ways to keep up your rehabilitation. I have a group on Facebook where a lot of us share home exercises, tips, nutrition and etc. Its called “Nutrition and working out leg injury “ and you are welcome!!

HIIT or “high intensity interval training” doesn’t have to consist of gruelling horrible exercises.

Your “high” intensity may be very different to someone else’s but for HIIT you want your high intervals to be a little explosive otherwise you’re simply doing “intervals” (which are also great!)

You might find jogging, instead of super super fast sprints, explosive enough for YOU or a brisk hill walk which really makes your backside burn!
💥
You want to aim for something that after 30 or so seconds gets you fatigued, breathless and very much in need of your low intensity recovery.

Robyn had always trained hard and wanted to push a little more as she counted down to a holiday  travelling across America.

Because Robyn trained well anyway, we didn't need to reinvent the wheel, we simply had to push a little harder and pay more attention to the details.

We changed up some of Robyn's food choices to ensure she was eating foods that were lower in calories, while still providing the required level of nutrients and fitting her calorie goal.

Calorie tracking needed to be consistent, and training frequency was increased to ensure more output.

Either due to a lack of overall knowledge, or not knowing how to get that extra 10% out.

‪In the Dumbbell Chest Press you’ll want to think about the following.....‬

‪✅ Shoulders should stay back with shoulder blades pulled together throughout the rep.‬
‪.‬
‪✅ Dumbbells should stay parallel to the floor. Lower arm from your elbow to wrist should stay perpendicular to the floor.‬
‪.‬
‪✅ Dumbbells should stay fully supported at around chest height at the bottom of the rep avoiding relaxing into a rest position.‬
‪.‬

QUICK STATIC STRETCHING ROUTINE FOR LOWER BACK PAIN

Here are 5 static stretches you can do to alleviate back and sciatica pain. 
The video demonstrates me working one side so make sure you work the other side too. *Aim to hold each stretch for 30-60secs 
1. Hip Flexor Stretch
2. Groiner
3. Groiner with Rotation 
4. Groiner with Elbow (the intent here is to move your elbow as close as you can towards your mid foot)
5. Glute/Piriformis Stretch

But done correctly and when you’re able to handle the exercise these are a Great posterior chain exercise!! It works the hell out of your core, glutes , activates the hell out of your hips, hamstrings, lower back and your balance. Great work out. I’ll admit I was lightweight scared of doing these. Lol. .One of my fitness goals is to be able to do 5 pull ups again, I can currently sort of do 1, in order to be able to do 5, I must practice doing pull ups in my strength sessions, do exercises that will help me to gain more strength in my lats and abs, and I must be consistent with this too...otherwise it won’t happen ! This doesn’t just apply to being able to do a pull up, but for absolutely EVERYTHING you set yourself out to doing in life 💁🏼‍♀️

A question I get asked often is how do front squats benefit my workouts? Below are 3 benefits that I think are most important, but there are several more to go along with this. -
📈 Improved Posture- Front squats recruit the muscles in the upper part of our backs to keep the bar on our shoulders and prevent us from hunching over. By keeping the elbows high throughout the movement, we maintain the correct posture. -
📈Leg Builder and Back/Knee Saver- Front squats work similar muscles to that of back squats especially hammering away at the quads. A benefit to doing front squats is that there is no added stress that most normally feel in the knees and back during back squats. -
📈Improved Core Strength- Since the weight is loaded in the front, the body needs to be positioned upright. By sitting upright during the movement, the core is forced into overdrive to help protect the spine.

Now that we’re starting to see some spring like weather it makes me feel more motivated to move my body. One of the ways I love to do that is by lifting weights. It is amazing how getting physically stronger positively impacts your life in so many ways. I always encourage women to try it out. There is so much information out there though that it can be easy to get overwhelmed. 
These are a few tips I would use to get started. 
You don’t need to start out with an fancy body part splits. If you want to strength train two or three times a week a full body workout is your best bet. This way your are hitting your muscle groups enough to see results but you have enough time to recover between workouts . If you want to workout four or five days a week doing an upper body/lower body split (upper body one day, lower body the next) is great. Once again you are hitting all your muscles enough times a week to grow and get stronger but you are also giving them time to rest and recover. 
You don’t have to work out for hours at a time. You can get a lot accomplished in a 30 min workout if that’s all the time you have or want to spend in a gym. 
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. I always enjoy answering questions people have and want to see people succeed. If you’re new to a gym ask them for a tour of all the equipment so you are a little familiar with it before you start out. Also don’t be afraid to ask someone in the gym how a certain machine works or google is always your friend for finding quick videos on them. 
Find a workout buddy. It can be so much fun to have someone come to cheer you on and keep you accountable. 
Lastly, don’t continue to do something if you don’t enjoy it. If you’ve been doing a certain type of exercise for a bit and don’t enjoy it but you’ve continued to do it because you think you need to, stop. There are so many forms of exercise out there and none is better then the other. The best form of exercise for you is the one you will consistently do!

💢HEEL/PLANTAR FASICA DISCOMFORT💢 This is an annoying issue that has a tendency to linger if not addressed properly. The recommendations we hear a lot are taking a frozen water bottle, lacrosse ball, or something hard to help massage that area to alleviate discomfort. While that may produce some short term relief, it may not fully address the underlying issues, which is likely a multitude of factors. Check back in this week as we go over some factors that contribute to heel issues and what we can do about it to help reduce the discomfort!

I’m a massive advocate 🥑 for living a sustainably healthy lifestyle without the desperate fear of “oh no I can’t drink a beer ever again because health”. Swipe for some CRAZY shenanigans lolololol.

This weekend I:

🥝 Got a $2000 table, $800 vodka bottle, and entry to the top pool club in Vegas free.
.
🥝 Got dissed by club staff about my Instagram because I must have “fake” followers since my engagement sucks. They have a point not gonna lie! No I’ve never brought a follower lol. But they can think what they want. Remember people express their inner world 😜
.
🥝 Smoked weed cause it’s legal. I never smoke guys... and it’s weed. Why do people freak out about it because it’s a plant through a bong and not a Red Bull vodka?
.
🥝 Drank way too much. Again I rarely do this. I normally drink 2-3 when I go out. But you’re allowed to go crazy if you want! Just be safe 😉
.
🥝 Made a couple of lifelong Aussie mates in the space of 3 days. @lachcash & @thorbyy lads.
.
🥝 Embarrassed myself trying to get free entry to places because it’s over $100 just to get in some places. So after like 10 rejections from groups, I finally got a success 😂 You need an even ratio of girls to guys to get free entry with hosts... So I had to try convince groups to join us at entry since the Aussies were too scared to open 😉
.
I’ve been through phases before where I didn’t drink for 6 months, gave up food groups, avoided events completely, found socializing a waste of time and never splurged.
.
I burnt out more frequently. I had more frequent lows. And I actually found myself going backwards in confidence. I was actually less healthy.
.
So have that crazy weekend. Splurge a bit. Get INSANELY uncomfortable. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes or to look stupid. Be a little silly. Embarrass yourself. But most of all be the real authentic you all through it and don’t be scared of that occasional donut or big weekend!
.
Keeping it real because there’s not enough of it on here. Sorry if this changes anyone’s opinion of me. But this world needs more authenticity. Don’t be ashamed of being crazy once in a while! Much love 🥝❤️

Coisas que fazem você não ter resultado durante o seu treino:
• A maioria das pessoas não grava o nome dos exercícios ou máquinas, isso faz com que elas andem atrás do professor o tempo todo. Precisa haver o mínimo de interesse em.saber o que você está fazendo é saber os respectivos nomes.
• Perdem muito tempo com outros estímulos, que não sejam os musculares; conversam demais.
•Usam celular e esquecem da vida enquanto estão nos equipamentos.
• Não estão focados no que estão fazendo.
• Confundem professor de musculação com Personal
•Treinam somente o que lhes interessa.
• Perdem tempo guardando pesos dos outros( pois a falta de educação é grande, usou guarde!)
• Acham que o professor tem que montar e desmontar os equipamentos para usarem.
• Não respeitam os intervalos de descanso.
• Ao primeiro sinal de dor, param o exercício imediatamente (dor muscular)
• Acham que o treino do outro é sempre melhor e "pega" mais que o seu.

Hora de reavaliar e repensar.  Por isso os bodes de Crossfit, Cross training vem ganhando cada vez mais espaço. Não que sejam melhor, mas não se perde.tempo com estímulos que não sejam musculares.

Coisas que fazem você não ter resultado durante o seu treino:
• A maioria das pessoas não grava o nome dos exercícios ou máquinas, isso faz com que elas andem atrás do professor o tempo todo. Precisa haver o mínimo de interesse em.saber o que você está fazendo é saber os respectivos nomes.
• Perdem muito tempo com outros estímulos, que não sejam os musculares; conversam demais.
•Usam celular e esquecem da vida enquanto estão nos equipamentos.
• Não estão focados no que estão fazendo.
• Confundem professor de musculação com Personal
•Treinam somente o que lhes interessa.
• Perdem tempo guardando pesos dos outros( pois a falta de educação é grande, usou guarde!)
• Acham que o professor tem que montar e desmontar os equipamentos para usarem.
• Não respeitam os intervalos de descanso.
• Ao primeiro sinal de dor, param o exercício imediatamente (dor muscular)
• Acham que o treino do outro é sempre melhor e "pega" mais que o seu.

You can use a hammer curl position by turning your hands inwards with  your knuckles facing each other.⁣

Stand still, lock your core in place and move your arms slow.⁣

For an extra burn, squeeze your biceps at the top and bottom of the movement!⁣

Don't sway your body back and forth with heavy weights because you want to impress Amy.⁣

Are 3 mechanisms of hypertrophy.
•If you neglect any one of them, you're not fulfilling all the muscle growth potential.
•Mechanical tension equates to muscular force.
•There's a "sweet spot" short of your 1 rep max, where mechanical tension is at its highest.
•Mechanical tension means good old fashioned heavy lifting. You want to generate the largest muscle force possible through a full range of motion at a good form.
•Most lifters have a "sweet spot" below the one-rep max where mechanical tension on the targeted muscles is at its highest.
•Adding additional weight won't increase mechanical tension and may actually shift it away from the desired muscles and onto passive structures or other muscles.
•Finding the Sweet Spot
The sweet spot will vary from person to person and even from lift to lift.
•For an advanced lifter the sweet spot might be on the low end of the 3-8 rep range.
•Parameters for mechanical tension:
Reps; 3-8 (depending on the lifter and the lift)
Tempo; When relative load is high (>85-90% of 1RM) motor unit recruitment is complete regardless of tempo. The difference in bar speed between maximal and submaximal efforts is fairly minimal and the durations of the acceleration and deceleration phases are small.
•Heavy loads (1–5RM), typically involve full motor unit recruitment on all of the reps in a set and also involve moving with a slow speed.
Therefore, all of the reps of these sets to count as “stimulating reps.”
•Emphasize mechanical tension at the beginning of the workout or for the first few sets of an exercise. Then transition to metabolic stress and muscle damage later in the session or on the last couple of back-off sets of each movement.
