Hi! I don't usually write long posts on here, but I wanted to take a minute to talk about an issue that I think about a lot: packaging. It might seem like a small issue, but to me it sits at the intersection of several larger ones- sustainability, low waste practices, marketing and presentation.
Like I've said before, reducing waste in the clothing industry is one of my main interests in creating this shop. I want to contribute in any way I can. This mindset makes me want to use as much reused packaging as I can, and make looks a secondary concern- if it is clean and gets to you safely, it has done it's job.
That said, sometimes I lose confidence in the idea- in the resale and handmade world, I often hear that cute packaging is a priority for buyers and brands- that it creates a first impression and makes a purchase more exciting. Basically, that it's expected. I worry that choosing to work around this expectation will look sloppy or like cutting corners.
Overall, I think that I want to keep using reused materials- it's more in line with my goals for the shop, and it helps me keep prices low. I can always add some vintage stickers!
Thanks so much for taking the time to read all this, and please let me know what you think!
